Sporran Picture Photograph

This is a picture of a traditional sporran.

The sporran, or purse, is commonly made of leather for day wear; the head and skin of the badger, seal, ermine or other light and dark coloured skins for evening (or for those with a little extra money). The kilt having no pockets, the sporran was evolved by simple necessity.

Rarely worn nowadays other than with the kilt and normally only for ceremony (such as a wedding). This picture shows quite an ornate sporran which would be suitable for "dress" occasions.
