Traditional Scottish Potted Shrimp Recipe
This recipe for Potted Shrimp which is a traditional snack or light starter menu item.
Ingredients
4 oz butter
1lb peeled shrimps
Pinch (each) of mace and nutmeg
seasoning (salt & pepper)
Melted butter to seal ingredients
Method
Melt the butter (4 oz cube) in a fying pan over a moderate heat. Add the shrimps, mace, nutmeg. Stir and add seasoning according to taste. Heat gradually, stirring well, but do NOT allow to boil. Once cooked through, remove from heat.
Put the mixture into small ramekin dishes and cover each with enough butter to exclude all the air. Chill in the fridge.
Serve cold with warm crusty bread.
