Oat Crumbles Biscuits Recipe
This is a recipe for an oaty sweet biscuit (cookie). Originally black treacle was used and this can be used as a substitute for the golden syrup.
Oat Crumbles
Ingredients:
4oz self raising flour
½ teaspoon of salt
4 oz rolled oats
2 oz caster sugar
1-2 tablespoons of golden syrup
4 oz butter
Oatmeal (for sprinkling)
Method:
Set the oven to 350F to preheat. Grease a 7 inch cake tin. Melt the butter, sugar and syrup in a saucepan. Once melted remove from heat.
Sift the remaining ingredients (flour and salt) and add the oats. Pour the cooled syrup mixture (previous paragraph) onto the dry ingredients. Mix and stir this well.
Press the mixture into the cake tin and sprinkle lightly with the oatmeal
Bake the mixture for 20-25 minutes until golden brown. Cut/mark into slices but leave to cool. Once cooled, turn out onto a wire tray.
