Lamb Pilav

This is a very popular Turkish recipe which is sometimes called Lamb Biryani, Lamb Pilaff or Rice with Lamb. Whether you need a main dish or side dish, there is probably a Lamb Pilav recipe perfect for you.

For US to UK equivalents see this rough guide

Recipe Ingredients:

  • 1/2 kg lamb, boneless and cubed
  • 2 cups rice
  • 4 green onions, finely sliced
  • 3 tomatoes, diced
  • Salt & black pepper
  • 50ml butter

Method:

Fill the pan with approximately 1 inch of water and simmer lamb for 50 min on low heat. Strain the water and save the stock.

In a large pan combine rice and lamb pieces. Add tomatoes, butter, salt, pepper, chopped green onions and stir well.

Add some stock to keep rice moist and cook for 1 hour on medium heat until the rice is cooked to your liking.

Serve lamb pilav with yogurt and onion salad.

As with all recipes which involve cooking and baking a sensible approach must be taken especially when dealing with warm or hot (temperature) ingredients. If you are unable to take due care, please do not attempt to make any of these recipes. All recipes are tried at your own risk.
