Irish (Ireland) Alcoholic Drinks Recipes
Traditional Drinks
This is a very traditional Irish recipe. It is also an incredibly simple one which for some reason people still get wrong.
Ingredients
Irish Whiskey (Otherwise it wouldn't be Irish Coffee!!)
Sugar (white or brown)
Double Cream
Strong Black Coffee (filtered or even instant)
Method to make Irish Coffee
Warm a stemmed whisky glass and then pour in a third of a glass of whiskey. Bear in mind that the idea is to give the coffee a flavouring it isn't to get drunk. More is not always best !! Add 1 to 2 teaspoons sugar and fill to about 1 inch from the rim of the glass with the warm coffee.
Stir to dissolve the sugar and top with one tablespoon of double cream. In order that ti sits on top and doesn't mix, pour the cream over an upturned teaspoon rather than directly onto the coffee. The idea is to drink the coffee through the cream.
As with all recipes which involve cooking and baking a sensible approach must be taken especially when dealing with warm or hot (temperature) ingredients. If you are unable to take due care, please do not attempt to make any of these recipes. All recipes are tried at your own risk.
