Scotland Candy Sweet Treats Ideas
Butterscotch Candy Recipe
This is an extremely simple recipe using only three ingredients for butterscotch candy.
Butterscotch Candy
Ingredients:
- 1 lb Light Brown sugar
- ¼ pint Water
- 2 oz Unsalted butter
Method:
Place the sugar and water in a large heavy-based saucepan, with a sugar thermometer attached, and heat gently until dissolved. Then bring to the boil until the temperature reaches the soft crack stage 270 °F This is normally tested by droping a little of the syrup into cold water and it separates into hard but not brittle threads. Add the butter a little at a time, stirring until completely dissolved before adding any more.
Pour into a greased 7 inch square tin and allow to cool and set. Mark into squares when almost set then when set, break along the marked lines.
Store in an airtight container.
As with all recipes which involve cooking and baking a sensible approach must be taken especially when dealing with warm or hot (temperature) ingredients. If you are unable to take due care, please do not attempt to make any of these recipes. All recipes are tried at your own risk.
