Welsh Sweet Treats and Pudding Ideas
Traditional Welsh Aberffaw Biscuits Recipe
This is an incredibly simple baking recipe for welsh cakes and one which is ideal for children (suitably supervised) to be introduced to the idea of baking. Using very few ingredients it is also cost effective and provides a tasty treat.
Aberffraw Cakes
Ingredients:
6 oz flour
4 oz butter
2 oz castor sugar
Method:
Preheat oven to 375F. Melt the butter in a basin and beat in the sugar. Leave to stand for a minute or so. Add the flour slowly, mixing as it is added. Roll out the mixture thinly (more biscuit/cookie than cake size) on a floured board and cut into rounds. Cook in the preheated oven for approx. 15 minutes or until golden-brown.
Serve sprinkled with sugar (according to taste) and with whipped cream and raspberry jam.
As with all recipes which involve cooking and baking a sensible approach must be taken especially when dealing with warm or hot (temperature) ingredients. If you are unable to take due care, please do not attempt to make any of these recipes. All recipes are tried at your own risk.
