A journey through Scotland's "killing times"
This church is one of the few remaining from a very dark period in Scottish history known as the "killing times". The picture doesn't really do this little parish church (formerly a covenanting or covenanters church) justice, as for example it isn't clear that the church required seven exit doors to allow the congregation ample time to flee from their oppressors.
Situated in what has now become known as the "garden valley" (formerly the Clyde Valley), the little church lies in a very picturesque setting, yet only 15 minutes from a main motorway. |
